Kayla Walker is originally from Austin, Texas. She received her Doctor of Pharmacy from The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy in 2025. She also received her Master of Public Health from The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston in 2025 through the dual-degree program. She then completed her PGY1 pharmacy residency training at Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Her practice interests include rheumatology, cardiology, infectious disease, and neurology. In addition to her clinical responsibilities, Dr. Walker also serves on the Internal and Specialty Medicine Formulary Evaluation Team at Duke University Hospital. Her research this year will evaluate the outcomes of SGLT2i rechallenge in patients with documented allergies or intolerances managed in a HF GDMT clinic. Upon completion of her PGY2 pharmacy residency, she hopes to practice as a board-certified ambulatory care Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner within an interprofessional clinic setting. She is interested in precepting learners and participating in research initiatives that improve patient access to healthcare. Outside of pharmacy, she enjoys discovering new restaurants, spending time outdoors, and traveling!
