Welcome to the Duke University Hospital’s Department of Pharmacy! I want to personally thank you for visiting us to better understand our pharmacy programs, team and culture. My hope is that you will find this resource to be helpful and informative.
Our mission is to “deliver exceptional pharmacy services for a healthier tomorrow.” This theme resonates throughout our department and is reflected in the work our highly talented team members do each day. The pharmacy department is comprised of accomplished leaders, experienced pharmacists, motivated residents, talented technicians, learners and a highly skilled support staff.
Our team collaborates to deliver high quality pharmacy services across the entire continuum of care for inpatients, outpatients and patients participating in research. We deliver these services via team rounds, unit-based inpatient pharmacies, inpatient central pharmacies, perioperative pharmacies and outpatient clinics and pharmacies. We prioritize quality improvement and the delivery of exceptional operational and clinical pharmacy services to Duke University Hospital’s patients, their families and our colleagues.
We also value pharmacy education and training. Our ASHP-accredited pharmacy residency training programs are directed by respected pharmacy practitioners. The rotation experiences for residents are delivered by preceptors who are experts in their fields of practice. In addition, Duke University Hospital serves as a primary clerkship training site for pharmacy students from the University of North Carolina Eshelman School of Pharmacy and Campbell University’s College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences.
We take tremendous pride in our people and believe strongly in our mission. We invite you to take a moment to explore our website. I believe you will like what you see. It is our privilege to have you visit us and we hope this resource is helpful to you.
