Molly O’Connell is originally from New London, Wisconsin. She received her Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Pharmacy in 2024. Her practice interests include critical care and infectious diseases. In addition to her clinical responsibilities, Dr. O’Connell serves on the Antimicrobial Stewardship Formulary Evaluation Team at Duke University Hospital and is completing the Teaching and Precepting Certificate Program. Her research will evaluate the differences in opioid and sedation requirements for mechanically ventilated patients who take Suboxone (buprenorphine/naloxone) prior to admission compared to those who are opioid naïve and opioid tolerant. Upon completion of PGY1 pharmacy residency, she plans to pursue a second year of residency in one of her clinical interest areas. In the future, she hopes to obtain board certification and practice at an academic medical center where she can further pursue clinical, research, and precepting opportunities. Outside of pharmacy, she enjoys reading, trying new restaurants, talking with family and friends, and traveling!
