Olivia Swain is originally from Montréal, Canada. She received her Bachelor of Science in Anatomy and Cell Biology from McGill University before moving to the United States to pursue a career in pharmacy. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy and Master of Business Administration from Nova Southeastern University in South Florida. Her practice interests include hepatology, infectious diseases, and rheumatology. In addition to her clinical responsibilities, Dr. Swain serves on the Internal & Specialty Medicine Formulary Evaluation Team. This year, her research will compare standard vs trauma-dosed enoxaparin for venous thromboembolism prophylaxis in adults with isolated hip fractures. Upon completion of her PGY2 residency, Dr. Swain plans pursue specialty board certification as an internal medicine pharmacist where she can further engage in research, teaching, and precepting. Long term, she aspires to serve in a leadership role where she can help shape policy, mentor future leaders, and propel the profession of pharmacy forward. Outside of pharmacy, she enjoys traveling, reading, cooking, and exploring new restaurants and cafes.
