Sophia Knudsen is originally from North Prairie, Wisconsin. She received her Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of South Carolina. Her practice interests include internal medicine and critical care. In addition to her clinical responsibilities, Dr. Knudsen serves on the Neurosciences Formulary Evaluation Team at Duke University Hospital and is completing the Teaching and Precepting Certificate Program. Her research will evaluate the safety of benzodiazepines versus phenobarbital for alcohol withdrawal syndrome. Upon completion of the PGY1 pharmacy residency, she plans to pursue a second year of residency in one of her clinical interest areas. In the future, she hopes to obtain board certification, practice at a robust institution, teach at a university, and engage in research and leadership opportunities. Outside of pharmacy, she enjoys reading, staying active, and playing piano!
