"My experience as a clinical pharmacy intern has been so helpful to both my professional and personal growth. I have met some incredible healthcare professionals including nurses, providers, students, and pharmacists and I love interacting with patients. I have roles that go beyond what I am used to as a previous pharmacy technician that include facilitating penicillin allergy assessments, providing counselling to patients newly started on warfarin, practicing pharmacokinetic calculations for vancomycin/aminoglycosides, participating in medication reconciliation, and storage of home medications the patient has brought from home. I get to walk throughout the hospital for my tasks and even get to interact with the infectious diseases team regarding antibiotic stewardship. I have pharmacists I work with each shift who act as mentors with extensive knowledge. Although rather new at the role, I have exponentially grown in pharmacy knowledge already. I am so thankful for this opportunity."
