Amy Mackowiak, Pharm.D.

Infectious Diseases Pharmacy Resident
Amy Mackowiak is originally from Pawleys Island, SC. She received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Clemson University, her Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences and Biotechnology from the University of South Carolina, and her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of North Carolina. She completed her PGY1 pharmacy residency at the Medical University of South Carolina. Her practice interests include infectious diseases in the immunocompromised host,  fungal infections, and antimicrobial resistance. Amy serves on the Antimicrobial Formulary Evaluation Team. This year, her research will assess the impact of an algorithm to triage patients discharged from the emergency department with blood cultures positive for Staphylococcus aureus or Coagulase-Negative Staphylococcus. Upon completion of her PGY2, Amy plans to pursue board certification in infectious diseases and work as an infectious diseases pharmacist. Outside of pharmacy, she enjoys college football, the beach, and spending time with friends and family!
