Current Resident

Alec Martschenko is a North Carolina native, born and raised in the Triangle. He completed both his undergraduate and pharmacy education at the University of North Carolina before traveling to Baltimore to complete a PGY-1 at the University of Maryland Medical Center. In addition to solid organ transplant, Dr. Martschenko’s practice interests include expanding access to transplantation and improving medication safety. In addition to clinical responsibilities, Dr. Martschenko serves on Duke’s Solid Organ transplant Formulary Evaluation team and is engaged in research evaluating different dosing regimens of mycophenolate in heart transplant recipients. After completion of residency, Dr. Martschenko plans to obtain BCTXP board certification and pursue a transplant pharmacist position at an academic medical center. Outside of residency, Dr. Martschenko enjoys outdoor activities like kayaking and mountain biking, cheering on the Carolina Tar Heels, and spending time with his new wife.
